Reunited Episode 49 | Countdown | @CornishZak

Welcome back, fledglings. We are flying high in the conference – and confidence is high in the squad. We have four games-in-hand to make up, ten league games to play overall, and an FA Trophy semi-final to navigate. Lets smash through them! First up, Grimsby.

Wednesday 21st March, Conference, Grimsby

It’s the first of our games-in-hand. Kieran Richardson is fit-again after a few weeks out, so returns to left wingback. Ro-Shaun comes in for Thorpe and SEB continues up from as our new talisman, Danny Rowe, is a week from fitness.

Tuesday 20th February, Vans Trophy Semi Final

As you join us, we are playing through a continued run of mid-week games, so need to rotate some starters for this game at League two’s Chesterfield. Marnick Vermijl is recalled to LB, and Love to CB.

Reunited Episode 47 | Tin Cup | @CornishZak

G’day fledglings. It’s mid-January in Greater Manchester. Our Newton Heath side are top of the Conference and still alive in three cup competitions – The FA Cup, FA Trophy and Van Trophy. How far can we go?

Saturday 20th January, Conference, Port Vale

We are in league action, having had four day’s rest from our last game against League side Bradford.

It’s Port Vale and another conference come-down for the lads. I try Burkart in a midfield role, leaving DJ on top of the diamond.

Reunited Episode 46 | Love’ly Window | @CornishZak

Good day, fledglings. You join us at the halfway stage of the season and we are sitting pretty at the top of Conference the table.

It’s Christmas-time (mistletoe and wine) so there are plenty of games to come and a transfer window to navigate. I may have got carried away this week, so there will be more action than usual!

Tuesday 26th December, Conference, Wrexham

Boxing day here in the AI world of Newton Heath. The players a playing their third game in a week, are nursing food-babies, and shaking off sugar highs.. but are up for this one! I have actually got a near full-strength side to pick from, so go strong. Matty Willock and Joe Rothwell are injured, so youngster Barlow plays in midfield.

Reunited Episode 45: Halfway Stage | @CornishZak

Good day, fledglings. Welcome back to #NewtonHeath ! You join us after 16 league games, and we occupy the top-spot in the Conference (just). We are still in all cup competitions; The FA Cup, FA Trophy, and surprisingly we feature in EFL Trophy from the Conference. Lots of games, tight nucleus squad. Lets go!

Saturday 2nd December, Conference, Barnet

Our captain Luke McCullough is our only player currently sidelined. It means that Ro-Shaun Williams and Tom Thorpe marshal the back-line. Luke Daniels is chosen to take the armband.

Reunited Episode 44 | Congestion | @CornishZak

Welcome fledglings. We are a third of the way through our Conference season, safely positioned in the promotion places. Can we keep our form going?

First, it’s a cup tie!

Saturday 14th October, FA CUP Qualifier, Solihull

I experiment by putting SEB at the top of the diamond. It’s lower-league opposition, as Solihull play in the NPL, so I feel it’s a punt I can take.

Reunited Episode 43 | Deadline Day | @CornishZak

Welcome, fledglings. You join us on transfer deadline day as General Manager Jed Woodward and I are camped out in our usual Lymm Serives hide-away. We have coffee, croissants and WiFi connection – and are ready to attack the deadline.

I ring around a few agents and make ridiculously low offers for a number of stars including free agents Bastian Schweinsteiger and Nishan Burkart, Hull’s James Weir and Barnsley’s Zeki Fryers. The agents are all playing hard-ball and we are not confident. There isn’t a particular position we are looking to fill – just improve what we have.

I get a text from Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray which simply reads, “PERMANENT?”. I show it to Jed who nods. I make a couple of phone calls, and our secretary draws up the paperwork.

I’m delighted to get our boy wonder on a permanent deal. He’s yet to hit the same heights as he debut season, but it’s a sign of progress for us. Rothwell has an ambitious buy-out clause of £2.5m.

Reunited Episode 42 | Pursuit of Happiness | @CornishZak

Welcome back, fledglings. We’re in Season 3, we’re trying to get out of the Conference, and we are about to get underway proper. Our preseason has gone well, our new faces have embedded (somewhat) into the #NewtonHeath way of football. Let’s get this season started!

Saturday 12th August, Conference, Salford

Our season starts with a derby – home to Salford! What better way to excite the fledglings faithful for the upcoming season!

There are decisions to make… first goalkeeper. Luke Daniels played all of our pre-season, without conceding a goal! But… The devilish side to me wants to give Henderson a run-out. This is not the 2019 Sheffield United and England version of Dean Henderson, but a younger, raw version, with less game time and (I suspect) a much lower CA/PA… He should do well at Conference level. Luke Daniels has every right to be aggrieved with my decision, but he takes it with grace.

Reunited Episode 41 | Pre Season Complete | @CornishZak

Welcome back, fledglings. You join us as Season 3’s pre-season games are winding to a close. We’ve two games and David Gill’s cheque book to get through!

First order of business is a visit to the club shop (portacabin) as there is a player in there holding a black sharpie, and signing autographs for a queue of fledglings supporters… There is buzz amongst them, after this free agent rejected Football League clubs including Barnsley and Wycombe to join us!
